If you are looking for a diamond that is brilliant and rectangular, the best option will be to opt for a radiant cut diamond. These diamonds are usually rectangular or square. The corners of the diamond are truncated and the outline is similar to that of an emerald cut. However, the brilliance of radiant cut diamonds is much better than emerald cut diamonds. Many refer radiant cut diamonds as mixed cut diamonds, as this cut has characteristics of other diamond cuts. Picking a good radiant cut diamond is not an easy task. Here are a few tips that will tell you how to grade and buy a radiant cut diamond.

Table ratio
Table ratio for a good radiant cut diamond has to be around 60 to 70 percent.
Girdle thickness
The best option will be to get a stone that has very thin or slightly thick girdle thickness. Avoid stones that have extremely thin or extremely thick girdle thickness.
Total depth
The total depth of the stone has to be about 60 to 65 percent of the girdle
The culet
For good quality radiant cut diamonds, the culet has to be non-existent or very small.
Symmetry and polish
Always pick stone shat have good symmetry and polish, as a poorly polished and asymmetrical facets stone will seriously impair the brilliance and look of the diamond.
Color
If you are planning to use the diamond in a white setting (white gold or platinum), the recommended color grade to be used is F, G and H. If it is a yellow gold setting, you can opt for a lower color grade like a, I or J color grade.
Clarity
Radiant cut diamonds with FL or IF clarity will be very expensive. As radiant cut diamonds have good brilliance, you will be able to find an eye clean stone even with a low clarity stone such as VS2, Sl1 or Sl2.
