Choosing an engagement ring and setting requires careful consideration of a wide variety of elements. When it comes to picking out an engagement ring, many individuals place a strong emphasis on being pragmatic, despite the fact that a large part of the decision is determined by the wearer’s individual sense of fashion and taste. Choosing a model that is more durable is something that should be given serious consideration if you work in the medical field, with children in any capacity, or even if you are a parent yourself. Our customers frequently inquire about what the most suitable course of action is for predicaments such as these here at Diamond Registry. The following is a list of our recommendations for setting options that have a lower profile or are more durable:

Band in the Cathedral Style
Because the band of a cathedral setting is attached at the stems and at the basket, rather than ONLY at the stems, you will find that this gives the ring a more secure feeling than other types of settings do. Because the shank is designed in a cathedral style, the diamond will not give the impression that it is simply protruding out from the rest of the ring because it will be firmly anchored there.
Design for an Invisible Gallery
The Invisible Gallery has the lowest profile of any of our designs and fits the palm of the hand perfectly flush. Both styles have slim bands and the profile detailing that customers have come to love from a custom Diamond Registry engagement ring. This style was developed as a more affordable alternative to our ever-popular RS-63 style design. This ring has a low profile, so the diamond and setting are closer to the finger than they would be in a higher profile ring. This makes it less likely to catch on things. The design is very clean and up to date, as well as extremely functional for anyone who needs to wear medical gloves or who works with children.
Bezel Set Center Stone
Bezel set rings typically do not have any prongs on the ring and instead have a metal rim that surrounds the center stone of the ring. Because of this, the prongs, which were one of the most jagged parts of the center stone, have been removed, making the stones an excellent choice for anyone who wants something that is softer and more “baby proof.”
The Shank Is Split
Anyone looking for an option that is more robust should consider purchasing a band with a split shank. A split band, much like a cathedral setting, will feel more secure due to the fact that the split in the band connects to the center stone in two different places, thereby providing more support.
