It is possible to find a yellow diamond engagement ring in a variety of shapes and sizes. In order to find the perfect yellow diamond engagement ring for you or your significant other, it’s important to keep a few things in mind.

The Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring

Yellow diamond engagement rings are very different from white diamond engagement rings in the way they are purchased.

When choosing a yellow diamond for your engagement ring and wedding band stack, color is the most important consideration. When shopping for a yellow diamond, cut and clarity are important, but are largely influenced by personal preferences and budgetary constraints.

Color

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) ranks traditional white diamond engagement rings between D and Z. All diamonds from D to Z have a yellow or brown color, but the colorless diamonds are D, E, and F.

Engagement rings set with fancy yellow diamonds are referred to as “colored diamonds” and are not included in the D-Z color scale. Unlike traditional diamonds, these yellow-colored stones are graded differently. Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense, Fancy Dark, Fancy Deep, and Fancy Vivid are all examples of fancy yellow diamonds. Value increases as yellow hue saturation increases in the yellow diamond engagement ring. Yellow diamonds in the fancy deep and fancy vivid color range have a dark yellow hue, while yellow diamonds in the fancy light color range have a paler yellow hue.

There is a secondary color that can be used with fancy yellow diamond engagement rings to produce a richer, darker diamond.

Some of our customers prefer white diamonds with a color rating of X, Y, or Z over fancy yellow diamonds when it comes to yellow diamond engagement rings. Even though it isn’t a “extravagant” diamond, the X,Y or Z yellow diamond is an excellent value.

Cut

Fire and brilliance are amplified with white diamonds when the round brilliant cut is used. Fancy diamonds, which are any diamonds other than round brilliants, have a stronger, more vibrant yellow hue, making them ideal for yellow diamond engagement rings.

For a yellow diamond engagement ring, the radiant cut or cushion cut are excellent choices for bringing out the stone’s stunning yellow hue. In both the radiant and the cushion cuts, the facets (the flat surfaces cut into a gemstone) show off the stone’s brilliance and the vibrancy of the yellow. It’s a win, win situation!

Clarity

Color and cut are more important than clarity in yellow diamonds. The lack of color in white diamonds exposes the diamond’s imperfections. To the naked eye, imperfections in yellow diamonds are usually undetectable.

If you’re looking to keep the cost down, yellow diamonds with a SI2 or higher clarity are sufficient.

Ideas for Styling Your Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring

Perhaps you’ve always wished for a yellow diamond engagement ring to be placed on your ring finger by the love of your life. Alternatively, perhaps you’ve recently developed a taste for engagement ring diamonds in unconventional shapes. If you’ve found your way to this post about the Diamond Registry’s yellow diamond engagement ring, you’re probably wondering how you’d go about styling your own yellow diamond engagement ring.

It is possible to style your yellow diamond in a variety of ways to either enhance or lighten its yellow hue. From our design consultants, we’ve compiled a list of three tips to help you find the perfect yellow diamond engagement ring for you.

Idea # 1: The color of a yellow diamond is enhanced by yellow gold.

It is important to consider the effect different colored metals have on the fancy yellow diamond when selecting a setting for your engagement ring.

Setting a yellow diamond engagement ring in gold brings out the best in the stone’s yellow hue, making it the metal of choice for most buyers. It is the white gold or platinum setting that makes the yellow diamond appear lighter. Even though a white gold or platinum setting does not enhance the yellow diamond, it still provides a visually appealing contrast that enhances its beauty.

Idea # 2: Adding a white diamond halo to a yellow diamond enhances it.

A halo of white diamonds surrounding the center stone is a surefire way to intensify the yellow of your engagement ring’s yellow diamond. As a result of the stark contrast between yellow and white diamonds, the mesmerizing yellow stone takes center stage.

Idea # 3: It’s an easy way to make a yellow diamond look even better.

Adding a halo of white diamonds around your engagement ring’s yellow diamond is a surefire way to enhance its color. The mesmerizing yellow stone takes center stage due to the stark contrast between the yellow and white diamonds.

Bought a beautiful stone here for an engagement ring. I was a little apprehensive since you’re buying something unseen. But Cid made it easy. In fact, Nissan, the owner also gave a call to make me more comfortable. They sent me the stone to take to a local jeweler with only my Amex in case I bailed on them.
