Baguette diamonds have an elongated, rectangular form and are part of the step cut diamonds group of diamond cutters. When viewed from above, these diamonds resemble steps due to their parallel facets. Step cut diamonds, in addition to the baguette cut, include emerald-cut and Asscher-cut diamonds.

The diamond shape is known as a baguette cut because it translates to “rod” or “stick” in French. Many others, however, believe it was named after the French bread stick of the same name.

Because baguette cut diamonds have long table-like surfaces and straight lines, they provide for beautiful reflections. They’re also known for producing the “hall of mirrors” illusion.

Baguette diamonds are rarely square-shaped and have a ratio of 3:1 or 5:1. In contrast to more typical cuts, they have 14 straight-line cuts or facets. The traditional European cut, for example, often has more than 50 facets, whereas emerald-cut diamonds have roughly 58 facets. Baguette diamonds become less brilliant and more elegant as a result.

They are typically available in lesser sizes, making them ideal for use as side stones. This is due to the fact that they highlight the central stone without attracting attention away from it. They’re also common features in three-stone diamond engagement rings. These rings are also known as trinity rings or trilogy rings. Furthermore, baguette cuts look great on eternity rings and wedding bands.

Are Baguette Diamonds Expensive?

Baguette cut diamonds are not as expensive as other types of diamond cutting. Step cut diamonds, such as baguette, Asscher, and emerald cuts, can be 12% to 42% less expensive per carat than round-cut diamonds of the same carat weight.

The clarity and size of baguette stones determine their worth the most. However, because this diamond cut often has a lesser carat weight, clarity is the most important value-determining feature. However, there are additional factors that can affect the price of a baguette diamond. The depth of the pavilion, table size, and crown angle, for example, all have an impact on the diamond’s value.

Nissan, David and his team were extremely accommodating, understanding and patient with our purchase. They took the upmost care to find the best solution for our needs and went above and beyond normal ‘customer service’ standards. I have absolutely no qualms recommending their products and services. Both were absolutely flawless. I will continue to sing them praises and will most definitely purchase from them again in the future. Thank you again!

Bought a beautiful stone here for an engagement ring. I was a little apprehensive since you’re buying something unseen. But Cid made it easy. In fact, Nissan, the owner also gave a call to make me more comfortable. They sent me the stone to take to a local jeweler with only my Amex in case I bailed on them.
