The 4 C’s of diamonds are interdependent, which means that you cannot evaluate one without assuming certain qualities of the other 3.

We know diamonds can be extremely valuable and we also know they are often encased in precious metals or set in jewelry. But how do you know what your diamond is worth? How can you tell if it’s truly the best quality? The 4 C’s of diamonds are interdependent, which means that you cannot evaluate one without assuming certain qualities of the other 3. In this article we will break down exactly what each of these four factors mean so that when someone asks you “What is the worth of my diamond?” You will have all the answers!

The Carat Weight Of A Diamond

Carat weight is the most important factor in determining the value of a diamond. The larger the carat weight, the more valuable your diamond will be. Only 0.2% of diamonds are over 1ct and only 5% are over 0.50cts!

The Color Of A Diamond

The color of a diamond refers to its degree of whiteness. The grading for color is based on the absence of color, not the presence of it; therefore, as you move from D to Z there will be less and less visible color in your diamond. With that said, there is no such thing as a white diamond because all diamonds have some hint of yellow or brownish hue. However, the closer you get to D-F with your GIA graded stone (or equivalent), the more expensive it will be because those are rarer than stones with more obvious coloration such as G-J or K-M.

The Clarity Of A Diamond

There are many factors that determine the worth of a diamond. But without any doubt, one of the most important factors is its clarity.

A diamond’s clarity determines the degree of purity in its atomic structure. The fewer imperfections there are in your diamond, the higher it will be graded on clarity scale. These imperfections are known as “inclusions”.

The fewer imperfections you have in your diamond, the more brilliant it will appear and also the higher its price will be!

The Cut Of A Diamond

The cut of a diamond is the most important factor in determining its quality. The cut affects how light reflects off of it, its brilliance, fire, and scintillation. When you see a diamond on display, one that’s been cut well will stand out visually compared to another diamond with a lesser-quality cut that appears dull or lifeless. The shape and size of the facets are what give your stone its brilliance; as an example: if you were to take two identical diamonds from their original uncut state (known as rough), one with excellent clarity and color may be considered more valuable than one with lower clarity because it reflects light more brightly when polished correctly by an expert gem cutter who knows what they’re doing!

The 4 C’s of diamonds are interdependent, which means that you cannot evaluate one without assuming certain qualities of the other 3.

The 4 C’s of diamonds are interdependent. That is to say, you cannot evaluate one without assuming certain qualities of the other three. This is why we need to understand how each component affects the value of our diamond and how they interact together when determining its worth.

For example: A diamond with a poor cut grade may have beautiful color and clarity but it will not shine as brightly as a well-cut stone. The same goes for a diamond with a high color grade and low clarity; while this may sound like an excellent find, it could easily have been masked by flaws which detract from its overall appearance.

The 4 C’s of diamonds are interdependent, which means that you cannot evaluate one without assuming certain qualities of the other 3. A diamond’s color will affect its clarity and cut, while its carat weight will affect its color and clarity.

Nissan, David and his team were extremely accommodating, understanding and patient with our purchase. They took the upmost care to find the best solution for our needs and went above and beyond normal ‘customer service’ standards. I have absolutely no qualms recommending their products and services. Both were absolutely flawless. I will continue to sing them praises and will most definitely purchase from them again in the future. Thank you again!

Bought a beautiful stone here for an engagement ring. I was a little apprehensive since you’re buying something unseen. But Cid made it easy. In fact, Nissan, the owner also gave a call to make me more comfortable. They sent me the stone to take to a local jeweler with only my Amex in case I bailed on them.
