Unless you’re Queen Elizabeth, there’s always room for improvement in the size of your diamond. You should be aware that the carat weight of your center stone is only one factor in how big your diamond looks when it is worn on the finger. This is important to keep in mind if you prefer a larger look, which is understandable because who doesn’t? Here are six different ways that you can make the diamond in your engagement ring stand out more than it already does.
1. Pick The Heart And Arrow Cards
Because the sparkle is what creates the impression of impact, a more brilliant diamond will appear to be larger. The cut of a diamond is the single most important factor in determining its brilliance; diamonds with an excellent cut sparkle more brightly and make a greater impression. Choose a diamond with hearts and arrows symmetry if you want to be absolutely certain that it has the very best cut possible. These stones are so symmetrical and well-proportioned that they have a specific pattern in a viewer that measures light performance (and the pattern really does have eight hearts and eight arrows: doesn’t that sound romantic?). The pattern can be seen in a viewer that measures light performance. Only round brilliants and exceptional cushion cuts, such as Diamond Registry’s Cushion Brilliant, are capable of having a cut that is sufficiently symmetrical to show hearts and arrows.
2. Fancy That
There is no variation in weight among diamonds that each weigh one carat. However, their dimensions are not the same. Round brilliants are significantly smaller in size compared to oval shapes, marquise cuts, and pear shapes. In point of fact, every fancy shape gives the impression of being larger and is less expensive per carat than rounds. So that you can have a diamond that appears to be larger for a lower cost.
3. Add A Halo
There is a rationale behind the widespread popularity of halo ring designs. It gives the impression that the center diamond is much larger thanks to the ring of diamonds that surrounds it. In most cases, it will add the appearance of at least a half-carat to the weight of your center stone. Pick a halo that has larger diamonds if you want to make an even bigger impact, or get two halos if you want to have twice as much of an effect.
4. Wear White
The appearance of the size of your diamond can be improved by surrounding it with a setting made of white metal (including the halo, if your design calls for one). You have the option of selecting palladium, platinum, or white gold. It is not a problem if you want the band to be made of rose or yellow gold because you can still have it made of the color of gold that you prefer. One of the most traditional combinations is yellow gold with platinum for the prongs.
5. Order A Side
Isn’t the appearance of three diamonds more appealing than that of one? If you place a diamond on either side of your center stone, the design will cover more of your finger, giving the illusion that the center stone is larger than it actually is. If you adore halos but are having trouble choosing between a halo design and a three-stone design, keep in mind that you can actually have both! In order to maximize the effect of your three-stone ring, add halos to each of the three diamonds.
6. Just A Pinch
This design element is understated, but it does its job very well. The appearance of a larger diamond can be achieved by surrounding it with bands that come to a point on either side of the centerpiece diamond. You just need to look at a few different styles with and without this pinch to see the difference for yourself. It emphasizes a woman’s curves similar to how a corset would a woman’s waist. In addition, it gives the appearance of great delicacy to the overall design.
