The blue topaz is a stunning example of a blue gemstone that is ideal for use in jewelry that is worn on a daily basis. The use of blue topaz in engagement rings, cocktail rings, pendant necklaces, and earrings are some of the most common and fashionable ways to wear this gemstone. But if you already own a piece of blue topaz jewelry, how should you take care of it so that it continues to sparkle and shine even after a long period of time?

To our good fortune, blue topaz is a relatively durable gemstone. The Mohs scale of hardness is used to determine the relative value of various gemstones. Diamonds have a rating of 10 on this scale, making them the most difficult of all gemstones to cut. Topaz, on the other hand, has a rating of 8, which places it not too far behind diamond. The high position that topaz holds on the Mohs scale contributes to the stone’s resistance to scratching. However, topaz can still crack if it is struck, so you should exercise caution if you plan on wearing a blue topaz piece in an environment where it might be struck (like when working out, playing sports, or using heavy tools). Because it is sensitive to both extremely cold and extremely hot conditions, topaz should be worn with caution in environments that have either of these climatic extremes. Topaz can lose its color, become damaged or even break if subjected to temperatures that are too high.

Taking everything into consideration, topaz is, in most cases, an excellent choice for a gemstone that is worn on a daily basis. On the other hand, even the cleanest gemstones will show signs of wear and tear over time. When we wear jewelry, the gemstones in that jewelry run the risk of gradually becoming covered in a film that is composed of dust, dirt, and the natural oils that are produced by our skin. The use of products such as moisturizing lotions, moisturizing soaps, or moisturizing conditioners can also cause build up on gemstones. But if you notice that your blue topaz jewelry is beginning to look a little drab or dreary, you can easily fix this problem by giving it a thorough cleaning at home or by taking it to a professional cleaner.

Cleaning Blue topaz Jewelry With A Do It Yourself

Use the soap and water method outlined below to clean your blue topaz jewelry at home.

  1. To begin, fill a bowl with warm water and a small amount of gentle soap. Don’t use moisturizing soap, as this can cause even more buildup and make jewelry appear dirtier than it already does. You can make a great soap and water solution with regular dish soap.
  2. Soak your blue topaz jewelry for about 20 to 30 minutes after that.
  3. Using a soft cloth or a soft toothbrush, remove dirt and grime from your jewelry by gently rubbing it.
  4. Clean warm water should be used to remove your jewelry.
  5. Allow your jewelry to air dry or use a soft cloth to wipe it clean.
  6. Repeat the steps above if your jewelry still appears a little dull.

When it comes to cleaning blue topaz jewelry, avoid using an ultrasonic cleaner or a steam cleaner because they can both damage the stone. Using harsh chemicals to clean blue topaz jewelry can damage both the topaz and the precious metal, so avoid doing so.

Nissan, David and his team were extremely accommodating, understanding and patient with our purchase. They took the upmost care to find the best solution for our needs and went above and beyond normal ‘customer service’ standards. I have absolutely no qualms recommending their products and services. Both were absolutely flawless. I will continue to sing them praises and will most definitely purchase from them again in the future. Thank you again!

Bought a beautiful stone here for an engagement ring. I was a little apprehensive since you’re buying something unseen. But Cid made it easy. In fact, Nissan, the owner also gave a call to make me more comfortable. They sent me the stone to take to a local jeweler with only my Amex in case I bailed on them.
