When it’s time to take off your engagement ring, know when to do so.
The thin, dainty engagement ring look has become a popular and sought-after style in recent years. We even have a “super-slim” option! These styles, while fashionable, are delicate and should be handled with care. Your engagement ring’s care includes more than just what you should and shouldn’t do with it! It’s never a good idea to work out while wearing your engagement ring, whether you’re lifting weights or running. Not only does this increase the risk of a prong getting caught or your band bending, but it is also unhygienic! Sweat will do nothing to enhance the radiance of your center stone! Wearing your ring while exercising isn’t the only time it’s appropriate to remove it. Housework, like working out, can necessitate a lot of lifting and scurrying. Another situation in which taking off your ring is the best course of action!
Avoid contact with cleaning chemicals that contain abrasive agents.
You need to be aware of what chemicals your engagement ring comes into contact with when learning how to care for it. As with housework and exercise, you should not wear your ring while cleaning chemicals are in use!! Fine jewelry, especially rings, can be damaged by certain cleaning agents because of the ease with which they can come into contact with your hands. The metal of the ring can be damaged by any harsh chemicals. Colored precious gemstones like emeralds can also be damaged by bleaching. You should think about how the wedding band you choose will fit with your engagement ring before you buy it. In order for the engagement ring and wedding band to be perfectly aligned, the wedding band must sit flush with the ring. Choosing a wedding band that complements your engagement ring is an important consideration. We advise against wearing three-row wedding bands with a three-row engagement ring because the stones on both rings are more likely to come loose when they rub against each other. There are thicker single row pave bands and even two row bands that give the inclusion of a three row band without running the risk of stones becoming loose for those who are still drawn to that extra sparkle!
Make sure your engagement ring is the correct size.
Another important part of caring for your engagement ring is making sure it fits. If your ring doesn’t fit snugly on your finger, it’s likely to spin around. When the ring is spinning, it is more likely to hit something, causing loose stones or prongs to fall out. You may even see the band warp into your finger’s shape due to an excessively large size. The ring’s fit is also critical for safety reasons, as you don’t want it to fall off!
