If you have ever graded white diamonds, you are probably familiar with the 4Cs, which are the carat, color, cut, and clarity of diamonds.

Carat

Because black diamonds are less dense than white diamonds, a 1 carat black diamond may appear smaller than a 1 carat white diamond, yet the carat weight is the same regardless of color. This is why we recommend that you choose a ring that has both black and white diamonds to give it a “fuller” appearance.

Color

The second consideration is color, and black stones are particularly noteworthy in this context. Colorless diamonds are classified as grades D-F when compared to other grades, which are classified as “near colorless” when compared to the colorless type. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and other prominent laboratories are used for colored stones.

Generally speaking, black diamonds are considered “fancy,” and their color can be either natural or heat-treated to give them their distinctive colour. The optimal color distribution of a black diamond is devoid of any white spots or other distracting characteristics.

Cut

It is necessary to cut black diamonds into jewelry before they can be placed in jewelry, just as we do with all other diamonds. When it comes to black fancy diamonds, there are a range of shapes and cuts to choose from, but the round brilliant and princess cuts are the most popular.

Brilliant cuts are employed in order to increase the amount of brightness emitted by a diamond. Carbonados have a particular sparkle element, but the cutter still seeks to get as much light as possible to bounce off the pavilion (top) facets of the diamonds he or she is cutting. When it comes to black diamond engagement rings, princess cuts (square brilliants) are almost as popular as round brilliant cuts when it comes to the shape of the diamond.

The shapes of oval, pear, marquise, and heart are some of the other lovely shapes available. Step cuts, on the other hand, are used to draw attention to the clarity of a stone. They have fewer facets and longer lines than the average person. The emerald cut is undoubtedly the most well-known step cut since it was first created to bring out the color of emeralds to their best advantage.

Clarity

The clarity of most black diamonds prevents them from being appraised by gemological laboratories. As long as their black color is well-defined and gemologists are able to look through them to inspect their facets, they are appropriate for inclusion in a colored diamond certificate. This study solely involves carbonados that are extremely hard to come by and expensive.

Since these difficulties were encountered, the jewelry industry has developed a new scale for black diamonds, with the best gems being graded AAA and the worst diamonds being graded I1. As opposed to carbonados with defects, dark and uniform color carbonados with well-cut facets and no apparent “streaks” in the stone are considered more desirable than carbonados with visible “streaks.”

A glossy black diamond ring is the best stone for a black diamond ring since it has a beautiful reflection off the facets and reflects the light beautifully. There are two varieties of black diamonds: those that are flawless and those that have some flaws or aren’t as black as they should be. Flawless diamonds are the most valuable of the two. As a result, you can rest confident that your purchase will be of the finest quality because we only use the best carbonados available. Our black diamonds, on the other hand, have been fired to increase their luster.

Bought a beautiful stone here for an engagement ring. I was a little apprehensive since you’re buying something unseen. But Cid made it easy. In fact, Nissan, the owner also gave a call to make me more comfortable. They sent me the stone to take to a local jeweler with only my Amex in case I bailed on them.
