The diamond jewelry highlights of Christie’s Magnificent Jewels in New York
On Wednesday Christie’s had a total sale including buyer's premium of more than $62 million from which a large part came from the twin blue diamond ring. The blue diamond ring was not the only diamond jewelry that impressed, here’s a breakdown of the top 5 highlights of Christie’s Magnificent Jewels in New York.
#1 The twin blue diamond ring
Fetching far above the maximum estimated diamond price of $8.5 million this twin pear diamond ring realized $12.5 million. The diamond is set with two pear shaped diamonds weighing 3.36 and 2.71 carat and are graded fancy vivid blue and VVS2 and VS1 clarity. In addition, each of the pear shaped diamonds are accompanied by a working diagram indicating that there are no indication that the clarities of the diamonds are potentially internally flawless.
#2 The cut cornered square step-cut diamond ring
Weighing approximately 38.91-carats diamond ring got sold for a better price than estimated $3.6 million. The cut cornered square step cut diamond that has been graded by the GIA as D color and VS1 clarity is set in a ring that is flanked on either side by a three tapered baguette cut diamonds. The ring comes with a supplemental letter of the GIA stating that the diamond is Type IIa. Diamonds that are Type IIa are the most chemically pure type of diamonds and are often exceptional optical transparent.
#3 The round diamond
It is like all items go over estimated diamond price, this round diamond ring realized $2,352,500 instead of the maximum price of $1,500,000 that was estimated. The round brilliant cut diamond weighs 23.26-carat and is mounted in a platinum ring. The diamond is E color and has a diamond clarity VVS2 while accompanied with a working diagram indicating the diamond clarity is potentially Internally Flawless.
#4 The exquisite diamond cluster wreath necklace
The diamond necklace created by Harry Winston realized a diamond price of $1.8 million on Wednesday. The tapered band of the necklace includes series of pear and marquise cut diamonds, each enhanced by circular-cut diamonds. The three largest weighing around 5.31, 4.92 and 3.91 carats. Because of the detachable function of the necklace, this jewelry piece can also be worn as two bracelets.
#5 The Fine Belle Époquo sapphire and diamond ring
Fetching 7K above the estimated price this sapphire with no indication of clarity enhancement realized a sold price of $1.7 million. The cushion-cut sapphire weighs approximately 11.81 carats and is mounted in a platinum ring that has single cut diamonds pierced in the shoulders and gallery. The sapphire is accompanied with reports of the AGL (American Gemological Laboratories), Gubelin GemLab and GIA. The reports share that the sapphire would be classified as Kashmir due to its origin.
