Diamond jewelry auction house Sotheby’s recently unveiled an incredibly rare 100 carat emerald cut diamond to be featured in the April 2015 loose diamonds and diamond jewelry auction. The emerald cut diamond is of near perfect quality: a D color, Internally Flawless Type IIa diamond grading has been given to the 100.2 carat diamond. The amazing emerald cut diamond is expected to reach a staggering diamond price of $19.25 million.
When you speak of loose diamonds of this carat weight, D color grade and Internally Flawless diamond clarity are truly exceptional diamond quality features. It makes this particular emerald cut diamond the largest perfect diamond ever to be offered at auction. The original rough diamond weighed over 200 carat and was mined by De Beers. For over one year, the loose diamond was examined and studied to determine the optimal cutting and polishing technique to deliver the most spectacular emerald cut diamond. The estimate for this emerald cut diamond is set at $19 million, which represents a $190,000 price per carat value.
Chairman of Sotheby’s International Jewelry Division said the 100.2 carat diamond was the most rarest object of natural beauty available on the wholesale diamond market right now, and could be considered as the ultimate acquisition for loose diamond collectors and diamond jewelry fanatics.
