The Ethisphere Institute named the GIA as one of the 2014 World’s Most Ethical Companies. It awards the gemological institute for its continuing efforts to uphold a superior ethics and compliance program. This is in fact exactly what the GIA is setting out to do, as they work to ensure the public’s trust in gems and jewelry through research, education and instrument development.
This is the second year in a row that the GIA has been awarded the respectable title, recognizing their continuous superior ethics standard. As a result, the GIA joins an exclusive community of companies that are committed to achieving improved performance through leading business practices. To be included in that community, companies must have an active role in promoting ethical business practices internally exceeding the standard set by legal compliances.
This is the 8th time the Ethisphere is recognizing companies for their ethical business standard. This year’s honorees come from 41 different industries and include 21 companies that were awarded the title for the first time. The list this year also contains a large group of organizations based outside the U.S. with 38 organizations from 21 countries and 5 continents.
