A square cut without compromising on brilliance

This very special cut is the result of one man’s dream to combine the elegance of an Emerald Cut with the unparalleled brilliance of a Round Brilliant Cut. The Radiant Cut diamond allows people to choose a square or rectangular cut without compromising on brilliance. Diamonds with straight edges like the Emerald Cut are faceted with long rectangular facets, called a step cut, which can slightly dull their sparkle giving them a glassy look. Diamonds with rounded edges like Round Brilliant Cut, Oval Cut, Marquise Cut and Pear Shape are faceted with triangular facets that release their natural brilliance. The Radiant Cut maximizes the beauty of both the Emerald and Round Cut diamond.

A shape that intensifies color

Radiant Cut Diamond Sketch

The Radiant Cut is especially popular for Fancy Colored diamonds. This is because the shape, proportions and facet arrangement intensify the color. Recently, the shape has also gained popularity as a preferred choice for engagement rings. Usually, these diamonds are set as a solitaire, but they also look amazing when set with either baguette or round shoulder stones. Like the Princess Cut, the Radiant Cut is a more affordable alternative to the Round Brilliant Cut with the same fire and brilliance. However, the Radiant Cut is not just simply a Princess Cut with the corners cut off. It is an entirely different cut with its own unique way of reflecting the light that comes in.

Square and rectangular shape

Radiant Cut stones can either have a square shape or a rectangular shape. To find the dimensions you prefer, look for the length-to-width ratio to help you. This ratio determines the outline of the stone and therefore what it will look like when looked at from the top. For a Radiant diamond that looks square, look for a length-to-width ratio between 1.00 and 1.05. For a more rectangular shape, look for ratios greater than 1.10. The choice comes down to your own personal taste, as both the square and rectangular shapes have amazing brilliance and fire.
