1990: Diamond Auctions by Sotheby Offer Historic Pieces of Diamond
Sotheby’s auctions French crown jewels in Geneva
In a sign of troubled times for European royalty, Sotheby’s is auctioning part of the French Crown jewels in Geneva and other jewels which once belonged to heirs to the German Imperial and Royal Prussian House.
The French collection was put on the market by the Comte and Comtesse de Paris, head of the royal house of Orleans.
The collection includes some 30 historic pieces, including a mid-19th century tiara set with sapphires, diamonds and pearls.
