At this time of the year, there are many magnificent diamond auctions planned just like this one that is going to be held in Hong Kong on 29 November by Christie’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels. The lots contain unique diamond jewelry pieces from colored diamonds, rubies to necklaces with emeralds. To give an impression of what kind of jewelry Christie is going to auction off we have collected some top lots.

This diamond ring has a superb color and is very rarely found in nature. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) rates the color of the 4.29-carat marquise cut diamond as fancy vivid blue and determined it to be a Type IIb diamond. These IIb type of diamonds are very rare and contain small amounts of boron that can give rise to a blue or gray coloration. An unusual property of type IIb diamonds is that they are semiconductors and conduct electricity. Besides the marquise cut diamond, there are triangular-shaped colorless diamonds, creating the appearance of the blue even more intense.

PIGEON BLOOD RED RUBY RING- RATNARAJ estimated to fetch 8-12 million USD

On the internet, this pigeon blood ruby ring with oval cut diamonds surrounded has been circulating and is very popular. The ruby is 10.05 carats and comes with an SSEF Swiss Gemmological Insitute stating that the ruby is from Burma (Myanmar), with no signs of heating. But that is not all the reasons why the estimated price is set so high, the ruby has an impressive size while having a very fine purity. Under the microscope, there were only a few inclusions that represent the hallmarks of rubies from the classical ruby mines in Myanmar.
A natural ruby from Burma of this size and quality is very rare and exceptional and can be considered as a true treasure of nature.

EXCLUSIVE RUBY AND DIAMOND NECKLACE estimated to fetch 4-7 million USD

No signs of heating but extra information that says the rubies in the necklace are from outstanding characteristics.
Besides the size of the rubies the gemstones are vivid red color. In total, the necklace has twenty-two natural rubies with a total weight of 57.72 carats.
