Analysis:
The figures, for 2002, are based on preliminary figures from the USGS, which may be adjusted before final publication.
There was an mining production increase of more than 10%.
Canada, Australia, Brazil, China and Russia now collectively account for more than half of world diamond mining; meaning that Africa no longer produces the majority of the world’s diamond supply.
