World’s largest yellow diamond sold for $16.3 million at Sotheby’s auction
The Graff Vivid Yellow diamond is the largest yellow cut diamond in the world, weighing an amazing 100.09 carat weight. During an auction at Sotheby’s in Geneva on the 7th of May the record-weight yellow diamond was sold for $16.3 million to a private buyer and in doing so the diamond set the record for the highest price ever fetched for a yellow diamond.
Chairman of Sotheby’s Switzerland David Bennet said “with its exceptional size and superb daffodil color, the Graff Vivid Yellow is truly an extraordinary diamond with immense presence. The 190 carat rough stone was cut into a Cushion Cut by New York master cutter Nino Bianco. It is now mounted as a ring.ellow is soft. White diamonds in the midrange were soft, but D, IF diamonds were strong.”
