The vivid yellow diamond cushion cut diamond was top lot at Christie’s October 20 auction
In New York, Christie’s has sold the vivid yellow cushion cut diamond for more than 3.6 million USD. In the email that the auction house shared with the media this amazing amount for the cushion cut diamond was revealed.
The yellow diamond ring fetched this amazing amount due to the fact that colored diamonds are extremely rare. Especially for this diamond size (75.56) carat and intense color (vivid). The expectations of the experts were quite close to the outcome since the diamond was estimated around 3 to 4 million USD. While the total sale of the New York Christie’s Auction of last October 20th netted a total sale of 19.96 million USD achieved mostly by online bidding. Christie's said the clients participated from all over the world from locations including Hong Kong, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Monaco and the United States.
The yellow diamond ring was top lot followed by a highest color grade marquise cut diamond of 18.8 carat ($1.45 million), a heart shaped diamond highest color of 12.75 carat ($965,000) and a fancy yellow 34.12 cushion cut diamond ($725,000).
