Why the Internet should be Tax Free – Sep.2007
In an article in the
New York
Sun, former vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp persuasively made the case
that internet purchases should remain tax free, and shouldn’t be saddled with
additional sales taxes, as some in the industry are calling for.
He notes that if the internet is taxed, it will slow the
growth in a sector that has been one of the most dynamic parts of our economy.
Since we already pay so much for wireless services, we cannot overtax internet
communications.
“For the sake of continued economic growth and innovation
and innovation,” he concluded, “Congress must keep the internet permanently
tax Free.” v
