Trendspotting: Black Diamonds
June 2007
While falling in and out of fashion with jewelry designers, black diamonds seem to be finding a firm new market in a younger market. Emerging designers are increasingly using the stone in jewelry targeted to the fashion-forward younger consumer and in men’s jewelry.
As the men’s category continues to grow, especially for the under-40 market, where men are more fashion-conscious than they have been in previous generations, the subtlety of the black diamond is emerging as a hot new look.
Designers using the stone point to the appeal being how black diamonds play into this younger consumer’s awareness of quality and desire for something unusual.
