World Diamond Congress Set for October

The 31st World Diamond Congress will take place from October 17 to 20 in New York at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Taking advantage of New York’s status as a world political center, the final session of the World Diamond Congress will be held in the Delegates Lounge of the United Nations, and there will be a Gala Ambassadors Dinner attended by the ambassadors of all countries involved in the diamond industry.

At the event, two delegations will take significant steps to join the organization. The Shanghai Diamond Exchange appears set to join the ranks as a full member, and the Dubai Diamond Exchange will formally apply for membership in the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, which will make the organization truly international.

One question we have is: Will De Beers attend? De Beers usually doesn’t come here because of their anti-trust situation, but a few months ago it looked like that would be settled, but now it appears it’s again up in the air. Will it be cleared by October? We’ll all just have to wait and see.
