This Index (base year 1980, with 1980=100)
is compiled by the Hoge Raad Voor Diamant (HRD), based on actual
sales, not on dealers’ asking or offering prices.
The quality ranges from IF to I-4 and represents prices for both
certified and non-certified diamonds.
The HRD price index was stable in 2002, with just a minute drop is
shown in under .5 carat and a fraction of a point increase in the 1
carat category.
