De Beers Raises Prices to Match Market Mood
Summer 2002
De Beers told sightholders earlier this month that it was raising prices again. No single item would be increased by more than five percent, while selling mixtures would remain the same. Most dealers are expecting an average increase of three percent, according to reports. Analysts took this as a positive sign for the market. Maybe after weeks of hardship, the market is ready for a Wall Street-like surge.
